Year 2004 (2)
July 14 : St-Peterburg (Russia) : concert in the St. Catherine's evangelic church on the Vassilievsky Island ; the French Institut was partner.
As in the others Baltic States, the public is enthusiastic for Gregorian Chant and medieval music,
that they do not usually hear.
Two days are too little time to visit and to discover the artistic works and monuments of
the imperial city of the tsars : palaces, museums such as the Hermitage, operas, churches, bridges and channels ...
Marie Stoffel, member of the Ensemble Trecanum, drew one of the more typical churches of St-Peterburg : St-Saviour on the
blood (underneath).
July 16 and 17 : return in Estonia
Palamuse and Kadrina : concerts in the gothic churches of these two villages ;
July 18 at the Dome church of Haapsalu, which is in the former bishop's castle ;
July 18 at the evening in the roman-catholic cathedral St Peter and Paul of TALLINN : the Centre Culturel français de Tallinn was partner.
July 19 : Narva, in the Aleksandri's evangelic church.
A great part of
the people of this town located at the edge of Narva, speak russian.
July 20 in Koeru, at the Ste Mary-Magdalena's church, built in 1253. This concert ended the estonian part of the musical tour. In these churches, the Chant find its inner resonnance into the architectonic purity and intimity.
The Ensemble Trecanum was invited by Kristupo Vasaros Festivalis. This great church was too small for so many people, who showed again the interest of the public, especially lituanian, for medieval sacred music ;
July 22 : Simnas : a village in the south-eastern Lithuania : the roman catholic parish and the numerous public offered a very friendly welcome to the Ensemble Trecanum ;
July 23 : Kaunas : concert in the St Michael's church, within the events of Pazaislio Muzikos Festivalis.
July 24 : Torun (Poland), an old medieval city of the Hansa. The Ensemble Trecanum was invited from the Music & Arts Festival of Torun. The concert took place in the arched undergrounds of the old castle of the Teutonics Knights stored at the 16th century.
